The cost of transporting tyres is a significant barrier to the growth of small and large used, new and retreaded tyre traders. This also applies to those who retread or recycle tyres, effectively covering the entire life of the tyre. However, there are technological solutions that allow any type of tyre to be shipped so that one semi-trailer or container holds as many as would normally fit into up to three semi-trailers or containers. In this way, tyres can be shipped very cheaply to any part of the world.
However, it should not be forgotten that simply packing the tyres tightly is not enough. It is no less important to check them before shipping and to unpack them efficiently afterwards. This is where our more than 30 years’ experience in machine manufacturing and tyre trading comes to our aid, allowing us to greatly optimise every step of the tyre import and export process. Our products are ideal for companies that collect tyres in Germany, France or Spain, and then export them to Africa, the United States or Canada.
CHECKING TYRES
The inspection of dispatched tyres is practically the most important operation that both the exporter and the importer must perform. What is crucial here is the speed of checking, which is usually less than a minute with machines made by us.
Only Coton manufactures pressure tyre testing machines that combine good functionality and ease of repair with an affordable price. Our bestsellers are the Professional model, which has a motor for rotating the tyre, and the Aquatest, which is also equipped with a water inspection tank.
Other companies target their range of very sophisticated and expensive machines mostly to tyre factories, which does not work when buyers only care about detecting common tyre defects quickly and safely.
PACKING TYRES
The tyre packing process will vary depending on which equipment is chosen to carry it out. We first use a COT-7 tyre tripling machine, which creates packs of 4-5 used tyres inserted into each other, allowing us to pack approximately 3,000-3,200 tyres into a 40-foot container.
It is also possible to pack new tyres in this way, but to do that you will need to purchase the COT-24 model, which has been specially designed for this purpose. However, you should bear in mind that such tyres cannot be packed as tightly as used tyres and each batch needs to be considered individually.
Once the packs have been prepared, they are stacked in a herringbone pattern in a COT-21 box and compressed using a tyre press. They are then moved into the container and loaded like this with a whole wall of tyres at once. This process can be sped up by preparing several full boxes at once, allowing the tyres to be loaded into the container without interruption. Using both the tyre packing machine and the press, around 3,200-3,500 (COT-8 model) or around 4,000 tyres (COT-22 model) can be packed in this way. Importantly, the tyres are not damaged at any stage of packing.
UNPACKING TYRES
Once the container has been unloaded, it is necessary to remove the tyres from the packs. This can be done using one of our unpacking machines, which allow the tyres to be separated quickly and easily without having to do it manually. We offer a wide range of models that require minimal maintenance and can run continuously for many years without the need for any repair.
Our most reliable machine for used tyres, the COT-5, is unbeatable even in Africa, while the COT-27 model, which is its improved version, combines reliability with ease of use. For unpacking new tyres, on the other hand, we recommend using the COT-25 machine, which has a system for spraying tyres with a slippery liquid.
